What is Economic Survey?
The Finance Ministry presents the Economic Survey in the Parliament of India every year, just before the Union Budget. It is the ministry’s view on the annual economic development of the country.

When Economic Survey 2011-12 will be presented in Parliament?
The Economic Survey 2011-12 outlining Government’s assessment of the economy will be tabled on 15th March 2012.

Expectations & Latest Developments of Latest Economic Survey of India
Chief economic adviser to Government of India, Kaushik Basu is putting every effort to complete the latest Economic Survey, in addition with finalising the Union budget 2012-13.
The most optimistic projection was made by Chief Economic Advisor Mr Kaushik Basu in the Economic Survey 2010-11 tabled in Parliament in February 2011. The Economic Survey had projected a growth rate of 9% (+/- 0.25%) for 2011-12.

Economic Survey 2011-12 Highlights
  • As per the Indian Economic Survey 2011-2012 the Indian Economy is expected to grow at 8.75% to 9.25% in the latest financial year 2012.
  • The growth rate is expected to be about 9% in the coming fiscal year as it has been 8.6% in 2010-11.
  • The growth rate in agriculture sector is expected to be 5.4% this year.
  • Manufacturing and Services sectors have also shown robust growth.
  • Savings and Investment along with exports are have also registered impressive up.
